Monday Morning Blues

Doesn't it feel like the weekend always goes by way too fast?
I constantly find myself hitting the snooze button at least five times every Monday morning.
I'm ready for those warm summer days when I can sleep till the sun wakes me up, not worry about being late to school or work, and not have to rush my morning routine.
If the Monday Morning Blues have got you down this week, get inspired by these bright and sunny vintage items!

Monday Morning Blues? Not anymore!

A Big Thank You

Happy weekend, Twisted Vintage loves!

I want to take the time to thank you all for your love and support and for making this first week of blogging so enjoyable! I really had no clue what I was getting myself into when I decided to start Twisted Vintage, the blog, but I'm sure glad I did! Learning to navigate the blogging world has not been easy, to say the least, but all of your comments are so encouraging, and I can't wait to see where this little blog takes me!

Green with Envy

Are there certain images on Pinterest that you just can't get out of your head?
You know, the ones that you really can't remember if you've pinned once, twice, or who cares how many times? The ones that you keep coming back to over and over again for that same dose of inspiration you got the first time? Well, today I made a realization. While perusing through my favorite pins, I discovered a certain commonality: I absolutely love the color green. It doesn't matter if it's in the form of furniture, wallpaper, or vintage ads - I am clearly green with envy for this classic color!

Vintage Style for Beginners

"How can I incorporate vintage into my own style without seeming too over the top?"

I hear this question all the time, and thankfully, there's an easy solution! For those of you who are new to vintage or not ready to commit to a head to toe look, the easiest way to incorporate vintage into your wardrobe is through accessories. Personally, I love to accessorize with vintage jewelry because it is super wearable and in-style. If you're going for a subtle look, try out a delicate gold filagree necklace similar to ours from the 1920s. Or, if you really want to go all out, dress up a plain white tee or a simple LBD with some fabulous 'flamenco' earrings or a fun novelty necklace like ours from the 1940s. The options are endless!

Twisted Vintage carries a huge variety of vintage baubles, but I can often be found hunting thrift stores, estate sales, or even my grandmother's jewelry box for that next standout piece.

Happy Hunting, Y'all!

The Art of Collecting

I have been collecting things since I was a little girl. Unlike other children who were bribed by their parents with candy or toys, my mother used to bribe me to go into antique malls with her under the alluring notion that I could pick out one item for myself to take home and display in my room. I'm talking anything and everything from cookie cutters, vintage purses, or even bits of ribbon and trim - I collected it all. And thus, my love for collecting antique and vintage items, and the idea for Twisted Vintage Textiles, was born. Of course, my collections have matured over the years, but just as when I was a little girl, I still proudly display them in my home for all to see. Today, I thought I would share with you two of my favorite collections: my vintage fashion labels and my purses.

Over the years, I began to collect vintage fashion labels just for fun. I think that the old labels are beautiful; they're like mini works of art. So much thought went into designing these labels, and they are a far cry from the measly little things that adorn our clothes today. As my collection grew, I thought it would be fun to display them in a unique way, and voila: instant art!

Now, for my purses. I absolutely love vintage purses. Period. I mean, let's be real...I stood in line at an estate sale one time for SIX HOURS just to get a single purse. Please don't call me crazy! Over the years, I have collected everything from 1940s beaded evening bags to 1950s lucite creations and everything in between. Here are a few of my most prized purses. It's hard to pick favorites, people!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing a little sneak peek of my favorite collections!

Welcome, friends!

Welcome to Twisted Vintage Textiles, a vintage blog with a modern twist!

Let me give you a little background about myself and my business. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not the type to wear head to toe vintage. Honestly, my 5 ft. 10 in. lanky self just can't pull it off like some of my wonderful clients can! However, I love mixing in a few timeless vintage pieces into my everyday wardrobe, whether it be a fabulous pair of deco earrings or a chic 1950s tweed jacket. And thus, my personal style was born. While I love to stay versed in current fashion trends, I truly believe that you can never go wrong with a few key vintage pieces. You know the saying 'What comes around goes around?' Wiser words have never been said because vintage will ALWAYS be in-style! From the beginning, my goal was to share my passion for vintage clothing and accessories, but in a modern, wearable way. I'll be honest, when I first opened up Twisted Vintage in 2010, I had absolutely no clue what I was getting myself into. Being a freshman in college, I literally thought, 'Oh, I'll just put a few things into a booth in this antique mall and call it a day.' Boy, was I wrong! To my surprise, the business took off like a wildfire and I haven't looked, or should I say had a chance to look back since.

So now, the blog! I decided to start this blog on a whim. For the past three years, it has been my morning routine to peruse my seven or so 'daily reads' and take inspiration for my day in the form of fashion advice, a makeup tutorial, or even a few encouraging words or pictures. I love getting that little sneak peek into my favorite blogger's daily lives, and I hope that this blog will do the same for you! I want to share with you in my Twisted Vintage adventures, and whether that means updating you on my latest vintage clothing "hunt," advice on how to incorporate vintage into your own wardrobe, or just random pictures that I find inspiring, we'll just have to wait and see!

As I always like to say, Happy Hunting y'all!
